The Project Enlightenment Foundation has unveiled The Power of Play; an initiative to transform the traditional playground at Project Enlightenment into a true outdoor learning environment that celebrates play and fosters skill development introduced in the classrooms. Divided into five thematic areas, the space will delight kids, families, and teachers for decades to come.
Our kick-off event was spearheaded by David, Emily, and the Honorable Mayor Charles Meeker, to celebrate play, and ignite community passion for the project.
For most of us, a playground is simply a place to run, climb, and play. But for the children and families we serve, an outdoor learning space is something much more. It is where therapy becomes discovery. Where confidence is built one small victory at a time. Where movement strengthens developing bodies, and play teaches critical social, emotional, and cognitive skills.
It is a classroom without walls.
For more than 50 years, Project Enlightenment has helped children and families reach milestones that once seemed out of reach. Every year, we provide more than 12,000 services to over 6,000 children, parents, educators, and community members. Through direct services, consultation, and teacher education, our impact extends far beyond our walls and into classrooms and homes throughout our community.
